Ten representatives from the Overseas Territories were invited by Speaker of the House of Commons, the Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP to participate in the 15th sitting of the UK Youth Parliament in the chamber of the House of Commons. This marks the third time the UK Youth Parliament has heard speeches from young people in the Overseas Territories at the despatch box.
This year’s speeches focused on access to education, expanding opportunities for young people, and the impact of climate change.
Sir Lindsay Hoyle said: “It is so important to give young people from the OTs a platform to speak about the issues affecting them – and for us to listen”.
